To quote the late great Orsan Welles from his famous radio performance of The War of The Worlds “We know now that in the early years of the twentieth century this world was being watched closely by intelligences greater than man's, and yet as mortal as his own.”

Now that was written as fiction and we don't know if it’s entirely true but what we do know is that many people believe it to be

The belief that we are not alone and the truth is out there is entertained by many across not just this nation but the whole planet and it’s this belief that inspired a whole genre of media.

The genre that asked one question: What would happen if extraterrestrials came to earth?

Alien Invasion.

From books and radio, to tv and film the invasion genre fills our mental ques with stories of alien intruders, mass other world armies and the human struggle against it.

On this episode of The Bear & The Beard the show got “invaded” by the very special guests, The Umbrellaholics, and we discussed some of our favorite examples of this awesome genre.
