The Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series is a five book publication in a collection of multiple series called the Half Blood Chronicles wrttien by American author Rick Riordan.

The first book Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief was first released in 2005 and then was adapted to film by twenty century fox in 2010.

This movie and its sequel Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters did not hold true to the books as is normally the case when you have book franchises adapted to film.
